2008-10-14 - Street Vendors

Spent the Sunday after getting back from the provinces doing very little, and spent some of it on the balcony at the guesthouse. A few more types of street vendor were seen – this time we have a lady on a bike selling fresh ginger (which has the texture of shaved carrot, nice and moist), a duo of a snail seller (large flat cart with 2 sizes / types of cooked snail, divided by a piece of wood) and a sliced sugarcane seller (I think, or otherwise some kind of fruit), who transports their wares in a clear box on a cart with a big lump of ice. Finally we have a lady grilling and selling small round cakes of something – probably rice I think, probably sweetened.

Also have another addition to the tuktuk series – this is the variety that has the moto permanently attached to the tuktuk back, via a solid connection and with only 3 wheels. This seems to happen only with older motos, possibly they were too hard to attach the tuktuk trailer joint too. On the left of the same photo is the back of a black tuktuk, while also seen but not photographed was a tuktuk with no paint, just polished metal all round. Looked very swish, but probably gets quite hot and hard to clean.
