2008-11-09 - Angkor 7 – Rolous Group

I wandered out of Angkor Wat at 3:30pm hot and sweaty and finished with the day’s activities. Rather than head back to town already, decided to go the Roluos group of temples, which is 30km away. These temples are called Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei. While I’m sure they are impressive, I was over temples for the day, so just took the obligatory photos, shuffled back to the tuktuk and went back to town. Dinner ended up being at the same $1.50/dish restaurant, where I discovered a great drink that consists of crushed ice, sweetened condensed milk and some kind of red syrup – just what you need after a long day, and a bargain at 50c a glass.
Lintel

Linga and lizard

Eroded carvings - apparently these are made from a plaster-like substance

Closed brick temple tower, with a dog having pups inside

Something a little different

Hallway remains

To the temple

Edge of the pond - the old stonework is still there

Guard elephant

Setting sun caused some nice illumination

More guard elephants, one on each terrace

Leaning tower

Old and new - the black shadow is an old temple wall, with new temple on top

Left hand tower has a bit of a lean to it

Nice intact corner building

Rice paddies in between the temples

Water buffalo

Convertible truck

Moat around one of the temples

Entry way - 2 very low carvings

Double linga?

Guard monkeys
