Next is another vendor – this lady only seems to come by on Saturday afternoons, and is quite popular. She has 5 big metal bowls of varying sweets floating around in syrup / juice, mostly based on rice I think. There is also a wine cooler type bucket full of sweetened condensed milk, and when you order something, you get a plastic cup with the milk, scoops of whatever you want from the bowls, and then some more milk on top. Have yet to try, but this is right up my alley.
After that is a breakfast vendor – has a large metal steamer with noodles in one corner and 2 types of rice I the others, making a big heap of food. The 2 blue coolers contain various chopped vegies I think.
Next vendor was snapped at the waterfront – has a cart with a plastic cube on top, full of plastic containers with colourful jellies in them. These ones don’t make it to 278 street.
Second last is a pomello seller – they make a long pyramid of them on their cart, and for some reason all the sellers line up one after another along the same road (which happens to be near the waterfront – Norodom Blvd I think). The ones in the pink plastic bags on top are peeled – they cut off the fleshy skin from the top 80%, leaving the fruit accessible and a nice little base.
Final vendor is a lady that has a big platter of various kinds of fruit (I think), which she carries on her head with a plastic stool under one arm. The kiddies pick out what they want, get some red powder sprinkled on it and everybody’s happy. I thkn the red powder is chilli and salt – for some reason they think this makes things sweeter (I assure you it doesn’t).
