2009-11-09 - Angkor 10 – By Bicycle

With half a day left in Siem Reap, I hired a bike for the morning and went for a pedal around the temple Mini Tour again. Only went in to Angkor Wat, but it was nice to cycle around the leafy roads in the temple complex. Snapped a few more pictures, returned the bike and then almost missed the bus back to Phnom Penh (the bus station = vacant lot had moved that day apparently, which is possibly why everyone I asked pointed me in a different direction).

Unlike the somewhat dodgy and scam-attempting bus rice back from Saigon, this one was very professional – there was a stewardess that did little announcements in Khmer and English, and they even provided lunch. Despite the distance being only 310km, the ride takes 6 hours due to mediocre roads, traffic and few pick up / dropoff stops along the way. Back in Phnom Penh, it was a tuk tuk to the guesthouse, Indian for dinner and snoozies.
