2008-11-09 - Independence Day 3

Nearly done now. Almost as interesting as the parade is how everyone gets home afterwards. After the parade it was back to the guesthouse to sort out 200 pictures and organise the blog…..

Red Cross, also with bar charts

Red Cross health workers?

Health somethng - the little baby they are holding was popular

At the back of the health centre, a guy gassing a giant mosquito

Dept of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth

Ministry of LAbour and Vocational Training

Education and Sport

CMAC - Cambodian Mine Action Committee

CMAC minesweepers with detection gear

More CMAC

CMAC dogs

Even more CMAC

CMAC digger

Special digger attachments - maybe you just plonk it on a mine and it dampens the blast

Drum and gongs

This float is neat because it is based on a moto

Something Buddhist

More rice harvesters

The dancers that were practicing earlier

Fish people

Frogs and things

Shrimp people

All done, the back of the parade waiting to perform for the VIPs

Military types parading before the VIPs

Even the Police Camry gets a Toyota bonnet emblem

More standing in line, with military police I think in the foreground

If your rank does not afford you a Lexus, you go home in a truck

Royal guard have sprung for a new fleet of Ford Rangers, with bench seats in the back for the rank and file

Another rare sight - a bus stop sign - apprently they trialled public busses, but the public were used to moto-provided doorstep service and were not impressed
