Number one on the itinery for day 2 was a 50-odd km trip to Mt Kulen. Being in the countryside in the tuktuk is great, even if you do get the odd face full of dust from a passing truck. It’s like riding a motorbike, but without the hassle of wearing a helmet, avoiding potholes and you are always in the shade.
Having arrived at Phnom Kulen, you do a 1.5km / half hour walk up a hill, with plenty of jungle views and crazy vines along the way. You eventually get to a river with waterfall, and in the rock in and around the river are various carvings – mostly lingas. The site is called the river of 1000 lingas, if that is any indication.
